Tory's pictures were the last senior session I had in 2011, and the year could not have ended any better.  

Parents, were you "real" in your own senior pictures?  I believe the value of investing in senior pictures is in showing true character and individualism.  My own senior pictures showed nothing about me except that I had really really extremely bad taste in eye glasses -- they were unisex before unisex was cool!  

Here's a glimpse of the life of Charlotte High Schools' Tory Brown.  It's refreshing to see a young adult so comfortable in his own skin.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The "Senior Mother of the Year" award goes to Tory's Mom, Lori.  Allowing him to express himself in his senior pictures was an unselfish, tolerant and most loving thing for a Mom to do.

What to Wear | April 2012

Here is April's What to Wear color and style palette!  These are not colors that I would normally put together if left to my own creativity, but I do love it!

As always these monthly palettes are just to give you ideas on a good blend of color and style.  Maybe you already have these colors in your closets?  Not only are these great ideas for planning photo shoots, but for any ocassion when you want your family to look in harmony.

Facebook Timeline Race

It has been fun trying to come up with new creative Facebook Timeline Covers before fb requires migration to the new page format on March 31.  I can really waste a lot of lose track of time playing with different designs.  Two down and one to go, leaving the hardest with fotogfufu.com for last.

Cancer Drive

I'm happy to post that I just received acceptance to be a volunteer photographer for The F.I.L.M. Project (Family Images for Lasting Memories).  The F.I.L.M. Project is a volunteer organization of photographers that gifts family portraits to cancer families.

I experienced my first cancer heartbreak at age 10.  At that age I didn't understand much about the disease or how it affected lives, any more than the doctors did some 40 years ago.  Cancer took the life of Aunt Yvonne when she was 32, leaving my two young cousins without a mom.  Since then cancer and people have come and gone out of my life year-after-year.  I tear up just at the thought of all of them.  {truly, it was not my intention for this to be debbie denise downer post when I started...darn it!}

I am not smart enough to help find a cure.  I know early detection can mean the difference between life and death.  As much as I want to, I can't end cancer, but even more unsetttling is not knowing who will get it next. 

I'm counting on someone else to find a cure soon.  Until then I will offer my the heart, drive and skill through photography to help people smile and cope.  I look forward to giving back to the community through The F.I.L.M. Project, and sharing life, laughter and memories with some very special people.

What to Wear?

Many many times prior to a shoot I am asked what to wear.  I usually respond with "whatever feels right for you".   Normally I do not get hung-up on clothing choices.  With that said, I have to admit confess be truthful...some of my favorite photo results come with families who have taken extra time to coordinate the color and style of clothing.   I still stick by the freestyle "whatever feels right for you" answer, but for those who "feel right" by harmonizing style and color, I am offering some fun help.  

Each month I will post a "What to Wear" palette for clients to use.  Of course, these are just suggestions!
