How far would you travel for a good hair cut and conversation? Once I find a good hair stylist and connect, I am extremely loyal no matter the distance. Over two years ago I traveled two hours for cuts. Then I found a great stylist, Marie, in a cute little salon in Lansing’s Old Town. I've returned every since. Marie cuts my daughter Carley’s hair every time she visits from California. Of all the stylists in Orange County, in her opinion, no one cuts her hair like she can.
So what makes Marie a great hair stylist, beside her hair styling skills? She listens. She shares things in conversation that she feels she has in common with her client. She doesn't talk negative about life or people. She has faith in God, and compassion. Marie makes me feel so special that I would be willing to travel wherever to whatever salon she moved to…or so I thought. About 2 months ago after 45 minutes of my babbling ranting hearing all about my recent important life events, she gently broke the news that she was moving...not out-of-Town, not out-of-State, but rather out-of-Country. She was moving to Australia. [heavy heavy sigh]
Honestly, I’m very happy for her. I love Austrailia. But, multiple annual trips to Aussie land are not in my budget. There’s no doubt I will look her up during my next trip there and we will do a cut, highlight and conversation again.
Here’s Marie, in all her happiness….
Farewell stylist-friend, may you be blessed in your journey.
