Making it Meaningful

One of the first things I ask new clients is: where would you like to shoot the session?   Not everyone cares about where we shoot, and certainly the most important element of a portrait is the people.  With that said, I think connecting the people to their special places makes for a more complete photo story...and for more meaningful memories. Sometimes we take our special places for granted and think they will not be a good backdrop.  If given a choice, I will choose a meaningful backdrop over a scenic one any time.  Having both meaningful and scenic is like a really delicious hot fudge sundae with an unnecessary but dreamy extra layer of sprinkles on top! The featured shoot was originally to take place at a local park, but last minute, the Stanke's decided to use their home farm.  What a great choice!  Around each corner of their property was a natural prop, related story, and opportunity for meaningful photo memories.  Here they are with their two year old twin boys:

Fills My Cup

In this busy session season it's easy to lose site of purpose and passion.  The Ames family came along just when I needed them the most.  A heartwarming afternoon with Sadie, Sam and their adorable daughter was just the dose of family fun needed to fill my happiness cup to the rim.

 

What a beautiful family!
