How would your priorities change if a loved one was just diagnosed with cancer? That thought helps me quickly put life in perspective. Partnering with Flashes of Hope, I continue to be blessed and reminded of the serious challenges some families are enduring every day.
For the past 6 years every shoot day has been a series of rain, storm and sunshine. I have become accustom to dodging the weather and improvising, and as with the past shoots, eventually this day also opened up to clearer skies. HOPE during the storm is the cancer families parody.
This assignment had many large families. Connecting and capturing the character of each family in 15 minutes, in and between the rain, was also a challenge. There is no time during the shoot to hear their personal family stories. The unspoken words of love are expressed in their actions and on their faces. The faith, hope and love sustaining them is so admired. These families are truly super hero’s.
